What happened: Fresh off their 2026 NBA championship victory, New York Knicks stars Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby were spotted at MetLife Stadium for the FIFA World Cup opener. The duo attended the high-profile Group I match between France and Senegal just two days after clinching the franchise's first title in 53 years.

Why it matters: The appearance highlights the massive crossover appeal of the World Cup in North America, with local icons celebrating their championship success on a global stage. The presence of NBA royalty adds significant star power to the tournament's kickoff in the New York-New Jersey region.

What to watch: France next faces Norway in group play, while the Knicks are expected to hold their championship parade later this week.
