What happened: New York Knicks coaches did not receive rings during the franchise's ring-night ceremony, per Joe Vardon of The Athletic, with additional Madison Square Garden personnel also excluded from receiving team jewelry.

Why it matters: Omitting coaching and arena staff from ceremonial ring distributions departs from standard NBA organizational practice. The internal slight surfaces early in the 2026-27 regular season as New York looks to regroup from its opening defeat.

By the numbers: New York holds an 0-1 record in the 2026-27 regular season following a 100-106 opening loss on Oct. 20.

What to watch: New York continues its opening week of the 2026-27 schedule while Madison Square Garden leadership faces scrutiny over the staff omissions.
