What happened: Jalen Brunson delivered a career-defining 45-point performance to lead the New York Knicks to a 94-90 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The win clinches the franchise's first championship since 1973, completing a 4-1 series triumph.

Why it matters: The victory cements the legacy of the same Jalen Brunson who fueled New York's return to the championship stage. By capturing both the NBA Cup and the Larry O'Brien Trophy in the same season, the Knicks have ended 53 years of frustration with a historic "double" championship.

What to watch: The Knicks will celebrate with a ticker-tape parade through the Canyon of Heroes as the city prepares for its first NBA title celebration in more than half a century.
