What happened: Zach Lowe and Rob Mahoney held their annual confusing-teams draft for 2026-27. New York opened camp with no extensions completed. Philadelphia and Cleveland each started preseason with new first units.

Why it matters: New York's stand-still preserves 2026-27 cap flexibility while leaving future rotation costs unresolved. Early first-unit combinations for Philadelphia and Cleveland clarify minutes battles and closing-lineup options before opening night.

What to watch: Preseason rotations continue with cuts and opening-night rosters due next.
