What happened: Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu endorsed Rafael Camara stepping into the race seat for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix following the immediate departure of Esteban Ocon. Camara, who previously secured a full-time seat for 2027, will contest the remaining 2026 rounds alongside Ollie Bearman.

Why it matters: The promotion grants the Brazilian junior his Formula 1 debut on home soil at Interlagos while giving Haas early race evaluation ahead of his first full season. Activating Camara also caps Haas at the FIA limit of four active race drivers for 2026, officially ruling out reserve driver Jack Doohan.

What to watch: Camara makes his official track debut on Friday during opening practice for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
