What happened: The American outfit announced the immediate driver change ahead of the race at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace. Camara, who currently leads the Formula 2 standings, was originally slated to join the grid full-time for the 2027 championship.

Why it matters: Haas previously tapped Rafael Camara to replace Esteban Ocon for 2027, but moving the transition forward provides valuable grand prix track time before next season. The move also hands the 21-year-old a home debut as the 34th Brazilian driver to start a Formula 1 race.

What to watch: Camara takes the wheel for opening practice in Sao Paulo on Friday as Haas prepares for the final stretch of the 2026 calendar.
