What happened: Los Angeles said Horton will take over public address duties, replacing the late Lawrence Tanter. Dan Woike reported the hiring was completed before Tanter died last week.

Why it matters: The move fills a key game-night role as the Lakers head toward the 2026-27 preseason. It also sets the succession after Lawrence Tanter's death at 76 ended a long run behind the microphone.

What to watch: Horton's first home dates in the role should come as the Lakers move deeper into the preseason this month.
