What happened: Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has been managing a day-to-day ankle issue since early October, returned to the field Thursday after missing the start of Wednesday's session. Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter Baker Mayfield practiced without limitations Thursday while working through a right thumb injury.

Why it matters: Baltimore sits at 4-2 and holds the seventh seed after dropping a 13-10 decision on Oct. 18. Tampa Bay is 16th in the conference at 1-5 following a 26-19 loss on the same day, leaving little margin for error as both clubs navigate quarterback availability during the 2026 regular season.

By the numbers: In 2025, Jackson completed 192 of 302 passes for 2,549 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions across 13 games for Baltimore. Mayfield completed 343 of 543 attempts for 3,693 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions over 17 games with Tampa Bay in 2025. Both quarterbacks entered the NFL in the first round of the 2018 draft, with Mayfield selected first overall and Jackson taken at No. 32.

What to watch: Friday's final injury reports and practice participation levels will determine whether Jackson and Mayfield are cleared to start this weekend.
