What happened: Luis Lara was in Triple-A less than three months ago. He delivered an RBI single against Tarik Skubal with a pennant on the line.

Why it matters: Production from a 21-year-old against an elite starter changes October depth math. It gives his club a trusted young bat for high-leverage at-bats the rest of the series.

What to watch: His remaining ALCS at-bats will test that composure against top arms.
