What happened: Luka Doncic converted a heave from past half court to beat the buzzer during Friday's action. The long-distance shot found the net from beyond midcourt as time expired.

Why it matters: The basket extended an explosive stretch for Doncic, who has anchored the perimeter attack across early-season play. It also added momentum in NBA Cup group stage play.

What to watch: Group stage standings will take shape as tournament play continues across the Western Conference.
