What happened: The 28-year-old Aari McDonald returns to the WNBA after last playing in 2025. A corresponding waiver cleared the roster spot.

Why it matters: She adds an experienced ball-handler with four regular-season games remaining. Minnesota can use the final stretch to define her role before elimination games begin.

By the numbers: McDonald averaged 9.8 points, 4.7 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 20 games in 2025. Across 136 career games, she has averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steal.

What to watch: Minnesota resumes play Sept. 18, putting the guard rotation under immediate scrutiny.
