What happened: MacKinnon has fought multiple times early this season, most recently leaving the ice to get an open cut treated. Colorado has answered physically through the opening stretch rather than backing down.

Why it matters: Losing a top center to a fighting injury would strain the lineup and minutes distribution. The edge-setting matters with another game coming in less than 24 hours.

What to watch: Watch whether MacKinnon keeps the gloves off in the rematch and whether Colorado stays healthy through the back-to-back.
