What happened: Nathan MacKinnon extended his scoring streak to a goal in six consecutive playoff games as the Colorado Avalanche advanced to the conference finals. The run has come in the wake of his Olympic gold medal loss earlier this year. SportsCenter highlighted the surge alongside the series-clinching push.

Why it matters: MacKinnon's nightly production is the engine behind Colorado's deep run, turning a bounce-back narrative into real series leverage. A red-hot top center reshapes matchups, special-teams pressure, and series odds heading into the next round. The streak also reframes the season-long debate over the league's top forwards.

What to watch: Watch for the conference finals opponent and schedule, plus whether MacKinnon's streak carries into Game 1. Lineup status and any lingering effects from the puck-to-the-face incident earlier in the postseason are worth tracking.
