What happened: Manchester City beat Brentford 3-0 on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium, with Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush scoring in the second half. Fabrizio Romano's post came as City stretched the lead to three goals and turned a tense title-race fixture into a clear win.

Why it matters: The result keeps City's Premier League hopes alive and cuts Arsenal's lead to two points, with Pep Guardiola's side still holding a game in hand. It also sharpens the stakes a few days after Guardiola said the title race was in Arsenal's hands, leaving Arsenal's trip to West Ham under heavier pressure.

By the numbers: Score: Manchester City 3, Brentford 0. Goalscorers: Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, Omar Marmoush. Table context: City moved to within two points of Arsenal after Matchweek 36, with Arsenal still having three league matches left and City still holding a game in hand. Recent form note: City entered after a 3-3 draw at Everton on May 4; Haaland's goal was reported as his 26th league goal of the season.

What to watch: Arsenal next face West Ham United on Sunday, a result that could reshape the title race again. City then host Crystal Palace on May 13 before the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
