What happened: The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded goaltender Joseph Woll and defenseman Simon Benoit to the Philadelphia Flyers. In exchange, Toronto receives goaltender Samuel Ersson, defenseman Emil Andrae, and a 2026 third-round draft selection.

Why it matters: The move marks the first major transaction for new Maple Leafs GM John Chayka, aimed at increasing roster flexibility and getting younger on the blue line. Philadelphia acquires Woll to stabilize their goaltending unit alongside Dan Vladar, following a season where Flyers goaltenders struggled with consistency. This trade addresses immediate depth needs for both clubs as they prepare for the 2026-27 campaign.

What to watch: Woll is expected to compete for the primary starting role in Philadelphia, while Toronto will look to integrate Andrae into a revamped defensive rotation.
