What happened: Seattle is pursuing Joe Espada for its manager opening, per USA Today Sports. His Houston contract expires at the end of October, after Seattle received permission to discuss the opening.

Why it matters: Seattle is conducting its search during the 2026 postseason. Espada remains Houston's sitting manager, so an expiring deal forces a retention decision within weeks.

What to watch: Interview timing and any Houston extension terms before the expiry will determine where Espada manages next.
