What happened: Former NBA forward Matt Barnes pushed back on speculation that the Miami Heat would move either centerpiece if their reworked frontcourt struggles to gel. The discussion centers on whether Miami would part with Adebayo or see Antetokounmpo angle toward the Knicks should the pairing underperform.

Why it matters: Miami committed its starting unit to the Antetokounmpo-Adebayo tandem alongside Wiggins, Thompson and Mitchell following an offseason roster shakeup. Splitting that core prematurely would force another structural pivot before the frontcourt partnership has time to settle.

What to watch: Miami's upcoming regular-season slate will test how effectively Adebayo and Antetokounmpo share interior touches and defensive assignments. Sustained cohesion on the floor remains the clearest path to quieting early trade chatter around the roster.
