What happened: The Dallas Mavericks released an official statement confirming they have chosen the former Valley View Mall site for their new arena, located outside downtown Dallas. The team says it hopes to have the new building ready to move into for the 2031-32 season. Insider Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) shared the full team statement.

Why it matters: The decision settles a closely watched question about where the franchise will anchor its long-term home, formalizing a site direction that had been reported as a preliminary deal earlier this month. Committing to the Valley View location shapes the team's real estate, revenue, and fan-experience plans for the next decade and signals a move away from a downtown footprint.

What to watch: Watch for design renderings, financing and public-approval details, and a firm construction timeline as the franchise targets a 2031-32 move-in.
