What happened: The matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs is underway on ESPNews. The broadcast will shift to ESPN once the ongoing contest between the Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons concludes.

Why it matters: Broadcast spillover moved the opening minutes to alternate programming to accommodate the finish of the preceding national telecast. The Spurs jumped out to an early 6-3 lead as the Western Conference rivals opened play.

What to watch: Coverage will transition to the primary ESPN channel as soon as the final buzzer sounds in Detroit.
