What happened: The Phoenix Mercury posted that they are playing in the City of Roses for the first time ever tonight. The WNBA schedule lists Phoenix at Portland on Friday, June 5, 2026, with the matchup set for Moda Center.

Why it matters: The game gives Portland another early measuring point in its return to the WNBA map. For Phoenix, it is a chance to build on a road win after a rough opening stretch and turn a social milestone into standings traction.

What to watch: Watch whether Phoenix can carry over its late-game defense from Seattle. Portland's home-court response will show whether the early record is settling into something sturdier.
