What happened: New York is 0-3 in preseason entering its scheduled game at Toronto. Brown said the disjointed attack reflects a deliberately limited playbook. Dadiet hit a pair of 3-pointers while the Alvarado-McBride pairing received extended minutes.

Why it matters: Preseason is for sorting rotation combinations before the 2026-27 season. The backup guard mix will define second-unit ballhandling and defensive assignments. Wing shooting from young players would reduce the creation burden on the starters.

What to watch: The Toronto date offers a first look at whether Brown opens more of the offense.
