What happened: Mikhail Sergachev was credited with a regular-season goal after the puck bounced off the top of the net, struck goaltender Tristan Jarry, and crossed the goal line.

Why it matters: Fortuitous bounces from above the goal frame leave goaltenders with little time to seal the post or track the puck's trajectory. The deflection adds to Sergachev's early-season scoring tally while going down as anunfortunate bounce against Jarry.

What to watch: Both players continue their early 2026-27 regular-season schedules this week.
