What happened: Nick Martinez worked 5.1 innings on the road in ALCS Game 4, holding the Cleveland Guardians to one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three to set up a Tampa Bay Rays victory. The veteran right-hander controlled Cleveland's lineup into the sixth inning before turning the ball over to the bullpen.

Why it matters: Martinez, whom Brian Anderson called the Rays' clubhouse glue earlier this season, extended his dominance over Cleveland after entering the outing with 13 consecutive scoreless innings against the Guardians this year. Matching zeros early was critical against a Guardians relief corps that carried a 0.75 ERA in the series.

What to watch: The series continues Sunday with ALCS Game 5 following Friday's postponement reshuffle.
