What happened: Major League Baseball resurfaced past plate appearances featuring hitter Jake Burger facing pitcher John King. The matchup between the two players remains a recognized novelty showdown connecting their surnames to fast-food folklore.

Why it matters: Burger, who was honored as the 2026 Players Trust Philanthropist of the Year, and King have periodically crossed paths during regular-season competition. Offseason retrospectives often spotlight such nominal coincidences when active game play pauses.
