What happened: Los Angeles Angels interim general manager John Mozeliak stated the franchise "must change ASAP" during an appearance on MLB Network Radio. He noted that preliminary trade discussions are underway, but the front office will more aggressively explore the market following the MLB draft.

Why it matters: The Angels have traditionally hesitated to sell at the deadline under owner Arte Moreno, notably holding Shohei Ohtani in 2023. Mozeliak’s willingness to part with controllable assets like Jose Soriano, Reid Detmers, and Jo Adell marks a significant philosophical shift as the club seeks long-term value.

What to watch: Expect trade discussions to intensify immediately after the MLB draft as opposing front offices circle the Angels' available players.
