What happened: Los Angeles Rams defensive end Myles Garrett secured the top overall spot on the NFL's Top 100 Players of 2026 list. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year earned the ranking following a dominant season prior to his offseason trade from Cleveland.

Why it matters: His placement solidifies his status as football's premier defensive force. He joins teammate Matthew Stafford, who landed at No. 4, to give the Rams two of the league's top five players. The recognition arrives while Garrett remains sidelined following knee surgery.

What to watch: Garrett is facing a roughly six-week recovery timeline. Los Angeles will not rush his return, prioritizing his health for the second half of the season.
