What happened: The NBA has set the group-play window for the Emirates NBA Cup 2026, with games staged on designated "Cup Nights" from Oct. 30 through Nov. 27. Each team will play one game against each of the four other opponents in its five-team group.

Why it matters: The in-season tournament threads a knockout bracket through the early schedule, giving standings-neutral games added stakes before the calendar turns. Advancing out of the group stage carries prize and seeding implications that shape how contenders approach the season's opening weeks.

By the numbers: Format: 30 teams split into six groups of five. Each team plays four group games over the Oct. 30-Nov. 27 window. The six group winners plus one wild card from each conference advance to the knockout rounds.

What to watch: Watch which contenders lock up group titles early and which chase the lone wild-card berth in each conference as Cup Nights unfold through November.
