Saturday is the last day to stretch the salary of a waived player. Formula: Years left on the contract multiplied by 2 Via @BobbyMarks42 on X

What happened: The provision sets the charge period at twice the contract years remaining, plus one. Jonas Valanciunas carries $666,000 annually, followed by DeMar DeRozan at $3.3 million, John Konchar at $2.05 million and Cam Whitmore at $1.8 million.

Why it matters: Stretching reduces each player’s 2026-27 cap charge and creates additional immediate flexibility. The tradeoff is dead money remaining on the books for two more seasons.

By the numbers: The four annual charges total roughly $7.82 million. Valanciunas accounts for about 8.5% of that combined yearly amount.

What to watch: Konchar becomes a free agent Monday at 5 p.m. ET. The three-year cap charges run through 2028-29.
