What happened: Beginning with the 2026 season, players, coaches and fans will retain equal weight in selecting the class. The league also plans to bring the honorees together for a separate celebration.

Why it matters: The change preserves Pro Bowl recognition while removing the annual conference matchup. It also makes original selection more exclusive by ending replacement appointments.

By the numbers: The Pro Bowl class will include 88 players, with voting split equally among players, coaches and fans.

What to watch: The NFL must detail the format and timing of its new celebration for the 2026 honorees.
