What happened: On Nightcap, Shannon Sharpe, Chad Johnson and Joe Johnson reacted to Heat coach Erik Spoelstra warning a player that he would be left behind if he was late for a flight. The player said his only late arrival came during a playoff trip to Toronto. He was about 10 minutes late for the team bus because he skipped a roughly $50 phone plan and never got the text.

Why it matters: Sharpe asked his co-hosts whether a former teammate lied in publicly calling the player habitually late. He pointed to a record of two league MVPs, a Defensive Player of the Year award and a Finals MVP. The co-hosts called Spoelstra a straight shooter and took the warning as a sign that Miami will not wait on anyone.

What to watch: Road trips in the regular season will be the first test of the Heat's travel rules.
