What happened: Nneka Ogwumike made looking out for the WNBA and its people a through line of her career. That work now frames her legacy as she prepares to retire after the 2026 season.

Why it matters: Her exit will close a career whose influence extended beyond the court. The league's continued growth underscores the value of her player-first stewardship.

What to watch: Her remaining 2026 games will form the final on-court chapter of that legacy.
