What happened: Ryan Day gave the update Tuesday during the bye week after the 19-15 win at Indiana. Sayin was hurt early in the fourth quarter on a sack by Mario Landino as he started to throw. He left for the locker room before returning to the sideline with his right arm in a sling.

Why it matters: Sayin has started 21 straight games since winning the job in 2025. He finished fourth in last year's Heisman voting. The 6-1 Buckeyes sit first in the Big Ten with postseason positioning at stake.

By the numbers: Sayin has thrown for 5,617 yards with 51 touchdowns and 12 interceptions over two seasons as starter. He carries an 89.7 QB Impact Grade, sixth among 175 qualified FBS quarterbacks this season. Luke Fahey is 9-of-13 for 203 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in spot duty.

What to watch: Fahey is expected to take over with a trip to USC on Oct. 31 next. Home dates with Oregon on Nov. 7 and Michigan on Nov. 28 follow.
