What happened: Michael Olise has registered two assists across his first two World Cup matches, with Kylian Mbappe converting on both occasions. The pair have formed an immediate connection in the attacking third early in the tournament.

Why it matters: The output underlines Olise's stated World Cup ambitions after a strong debut campaign at Bayern, positioning him as a creative fixture rather than a rotation option. A reliable supply line to Mbappe, one of the tournament's most lethal finishers, raises the ceiling on a deep run.

What to watch: Watch whether the Olise-Mbappe link holds as the competition stiffens in the knockout rounds and defenses tighten.
