What happened: Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise told reporters his target this season was to win everything with France and with Bayern, adding he is excited for the World Cup and looking forward to giving everything to win with France. The comments come days after he was named Best French Player Abroad by the UNFP following his debut Bayern campaign.

Why it matters: Olise's framing matters because France enter the 2026 World Cup cycle leaning on a new generation of attackers, and his Bayern form has elevated him into Didier Deschamps' core selection conversation. Bayern's domestic title push and recent Champions League exit to PSG sharpen the stakes on the club side, where Kompany conceded the team needed to be more decisive in Europe.

What to watch: Watch for France's pre-World Cup friendlies and Deschamps' squad rotation, plus Olise's role in Bayern's remaining Bundesliga fixtures. His usage and minutes load through the summer window will signal how central he is to both projects.
