What happened: Indiana marked what would have been Mel Simon's 100th birthday with a tribute tracing the franchise's identity to him. The message credited his vision and passion for shaping Pacers Sports & Entertainment.

Why it matters: The tribute ties the organization's current form to Simon's founding influence rather than any single season. It also frames that legacy as continuing in the home city.

What to watch: The game has not started yet.
