What happened: Coach Dan Quinn said Tuesday Terry McLaurin tore his patellar tendon running a route in Washington's 23-17 loss to San Francisco on Monday night at Levi's Stadium. He went down without contact near the sideline late in the first quarter, left the field in a full air cast after one catch for 27 yards, and will have season-ending surgery.

Why it matters: McLaurin leaves as Washington's leading receiver with 15 catches for 230 yards and one touchdown. The absence removes the team's most productive downfield target during a 1-4-1 start that has Washington last in the NFC East, with Quinn saying the team will lean on multiple receivers.

By the numbers: 2026: 15 receptions, 230 yards, 1 TD in 6 games; vs San Francisco: 1 catch, 27 yards; 2024: 82 catches, 1,096 yards, 13 TDs; 2025: 38 catches, 582 yards, 3 TDs in 10 games; Washington 1-4-1 entering Week 7.

What to watch: Washington has a Week 7 bye before hosting Philadelphia in Week 8.
