What happened: The San Diego Padres reinstated right-handed pitcher Mason Miller from the paternity list on Friday. He will take the place of left-hander Wandy Peralta on the active National League Division Series roster.

Why it matters: Miller's return restores a high-leverage arm to the bullpen for the postseason run. He stepped away temporarily after being placed on the paternity list, missing game action while his son was born. Swapping out Peralta shifts the relief corps' left-right balance moving forward.

What to watch: Miller is available to pitch immediately as the division series continues.
