What happened: Padres manager Craig Stammen was ejected three pitches into the game following a check-swing dispute. San Diego’s coaching staff assumed in-game duties after his removal.

Why it matters: The ejection left the Padres without Stammen in the dugout almost immediately. It also adds disruption as San Diego tries to halt an eight-game losing streak.

By the numbers: The Padres are 43-45, average 3.9 runs per game and allow 4.4. They enter their next scheduled game on an eight-game losing streak.

What to watch: Watch for any league discipline and how San Diego divides managerial duties.
