What happened: Jake Bauers, who credited his wife's pregnancy and health insurance needs for his MLB return, fouled off pitches through a 10-pitch at-bat before driving a go-ahead two-run home run in the seventh inning of Game 3. Garrett Mitchell followed on the next at-bat with a home run of his own to extend the lead.

Why it matters: The seventh-inning sequence erased the Game 3 deficit in consecutive plate appearances during the postseason matchup. Bauers has now strung together two pivotal playoff plate appearances this week after his 12-pitch walk shifted Monday's contest.

What to watch: Bullpen usage and late-inning left-handed matchups will carry directly into the next game of the postseason series.
