San Diego Padres starter Walker Buehler goes on the Postseason Paternity List and will be replaced by Randy Vásquez unti Via @BNightengale on X

What happened: San Diego moved Walker Buehler to the Postseason Paternity List before Saturday's scheduled first pitch. Randy Vásquez will take his place on the active roster until Buehler returns.

Why it matters: The switch changes the Padres' pitching options for a postseason game that has not started yet. San Diego enters on a four-game winning streak, while Milwaukee has won five straight.

By the numbers: San Diego is 91-68 this season and Milwaukee is 101-57. The Padres have won four of the last five meetings, including all three games in San Diego from Aug. 10-12.

What to watch: Watch San Diego's pregame pitching assignments and whether Buehler is restored to the active roster once he returns.
