What happened: Paige Bueckers is a World Champion after the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup wrapped Sunday in Berlin. The result adds a senior global title to a tournament run Wire Report previously tracked through group play, the semifinal and the final.

Why it matters: Bueckers' gold keeps her in the center of the sport's crossover calendar as the WNBA regular season continues. The championship also extends a five-title run at the event, a standard few international programs have ever matched.

What to watch: Watch for post-tournament roster transitions as Bueckers returns from international duty. WNBA availability and workload will be the next practical questions.
