What happened: An MRI confirmed the low-grade injury after Banchero exited during the first half of Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He remained with the traveling party for Sunday morning's team session ahead of the evening matchup with the Knicks.

Why it matters: Sidelining the primary frontcourt playmaker compounds an early deficit for a rotation still seeking its first victory of the 2026-27 campaign. Banchero had anchored the half-court offense before the setback forced an early lineup adjustment.

By the numbers: Orlando stands at 0-2 following a 132-125 opening loss to Atlanta and a 115-93 defeat to Minnesota. Banchero recorded a game-high 35 points and 10 assists in the season opener.

What to watch: Tipoff against the Knicks in New York is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Sunday.
