What happened: New England will receive safety Jaylen Reed and a 2028 seventh-round pick. NFL Network reported the agreement Monday.

Why it matters: Houston's receiver need deepened after Jayden Higgins tore his ACL, leaving the WR2 role open. Moving Boutte also trims New England's crowded receiver competition before roster cuts.

By the numbers: New England drafted Boutte 187th overall in the sixth round in 2023.

What to watch: Training-camp reps will show how quickly Boutte enters Houston's receiver rotation before Week 1.
