What happened: New England took its standard Tuesday players' day off with one roster spot open. Coach Mike Vrabel praised Caleb Lomu for stepping in at left tackle, saying the moment wasn't too big for him. Coaches started preparation for the 2-3 New York Jets.

Why it matters: New England sits minus-5 in turnover differential while New York is plus-3. New York joins Detroit and Houston as the only teams yet to throw an interception, raising the pressure on New England to generate takeaways without giving the ball away.

By the numbers: NE turnover differential minus-5; NYJ plus-3. Jets record 2-3. Jets one of three teams without an interception, with Lions and Texans. Lomu drafted 28th overall in 2026 out of Utah.

What to watch: New England returns to practice ahead of Jets week, when the open roster spot and Lomu's role at left tackle come into focus.
