Patriots Rule Out Davis, Prunty for Week 6 Against Jets

Both miss second straight game; Gonzalez returns

What happened: New England ruled out cornerbacks Carlton Davis III (neck) and Karon Prunty (hamstring) for Sunday's AFC East game against the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium. Both missed six consecutive practices and sit for the second straight game.

Why it matters: Christian Gonzalez carries no designation after two missed starts with a shoulder injury and restores the top corner spot. Depth remains thin behind him for a divisional matchup with two corners sidelined.

By the numbers: Davis played all 59 defensive snaps against Buffalo before missing the Las Vegas game. Prunty has logged 46 special-teams snaps as a rookie.

What to watch: Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Gillette Stadium. New England has until 4 p.m. ET Saturday to fill an open 53-man roster spot.
