What happened: New England hosted the trio for free-agent tryouts Friday. Ulysses Bentley became available in late August.

Why it matters: Running back depth shapes practice reps and game-day inactives in October. A familiar option needs less installation time if New England adds to the practice squad.

What to watch: New England can sign one of the three or stand pat. The next transaction wire will show whether a signing follows.
