What happened: The Patriots brought in free-agent cornerback Dontae Manning for a tryout. Manning has previously spent time with the Falcons and Bears.

Why it matters: New England continues to evaluate cornerback depth during the regular season. An open tryout gives the Patriots another option for practice squad or roster depth at the position.

What to watch: The next step is whether New England signs Manning or continues to cycle through defensive backs.
