What happened: Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee/ankle) was again sidelined at practice Friday, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports. He is listed Out and missed Week 8 with a knee injury.

Why it matters: New England stayed in the AFC playoff race without Brown, beating Miami 24-19 on Nov. 1 to move to 5-3. Brown had earlier taken practice reps in October after an extended absence.

By the numbers: Patriots: 5-3 through 8 games in 2026, one-game win streak, seventh seed. Last game: won 24-19 at the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 1.

What to watch: Brown's status for Week 9 is the item to watch as the Patriots finalize their injury designations.
