What happened: Payton Tolle struck out the side on nine pitches in the first inning Sunday. The moment followed earlier same-day Wire coverage of Tolle's immaculate inning.

Why it matters: An immaculate inning is rare enough to turn a single frame into a standings-adjacent headline during the September stretch. For Tolle, it adds another sharp marker to a run that already included a 12-strikeout start on September 6.

What to watch: Watch whether Tolle's command holds through the middle innings. His next turn will show whether this was a burst or another step in a late-season surge.
