What happened: Kendrick Perkins urged Joe Lacob to pressure Mike Dunleavy to upgrade Golden State's roster before 2026-27. The Warriors retained De'Anthony Melton, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis and Charles Bassey while adding draft picks Yaxel Lendeborg and Lajae Jones.

Why it matters: Golden State missed on LeBron James, balked at Boston's asking price for Jaylen Brown and never seriously engaged Washington on Anthony Davis. Those failed pursuits leave a largely familiar roster trying to climb out of the play-in tier.

What to watch: Golden State still has depth spots to address before training camp. Moses Moody's recovery from a knee injury also bears watching.
